Sculpture and movement seem at first glance to be incompatible. Since sculptures are usually static, the connection between moving film images and sculpture is not self-evident. This apparent discrepancy takes Wouter Dijkman and Menno Lenting, guest curators of the exhibition, into unexplored territory. However, when the first conversations with Het Depot took place, they quickly saw all kinds of theoretical points of reference to be able to recognize movement in sculpture.

Sculpture in Motion tries to let the selected images from the collection of the Het Depot Sculpture Gallery speak to the viewer in a new way. Images are not necessarily static. By applying (film and literature) philosophy to sculpture we see that sculptures constantly move in a flow. Visitors can always create their own new, different images.
